Most writers learn to write, to begin with, through imitation. They’re all really heavy readers, and while every story is unique, they do learn the pacing and rhythm of stories by simply consuming a ton of books. Early writing, then, is often just done by feel.
But it’s important to move past the it just feels right method of writing. To deconstruct what it is you’re doing as an author—to make informed choices that shape your work.
