Writer's Journey: Dustin' It Off
When my first book, A Blue So Dark, released in 2010, the YA book blogosphere was in full swing. And man, did I love it.
I loved talking to teenage readers and writers. I loved that there was such a vibrant community of readers. I loved doing interviews and participating in Follow Fridays and meeting reviewers.
And then, over the next few years…
It kinda fizzled.
Back then—the 20-teens—I started a YouTube channel in order to put up some vlog interviews and talking head bits. A few book trailers. Everything I did was super simple. Talk about bare bones…I had a dvr camcorder and used Windows Movie Maker to splice it all together.
I actually really enjoyed it. I was still making vids pretty regularly up through the release of my MG The Junction of Sunshine and Lucky.
And then…
Well…
I wasn’t posting videos as much. I kinda fizzed, too.
As I was getting ready to share the first three modules of my Chapter Breaks Writing Course, I headed over to YouTube and found that I hadn’t done a single video in…
Four years.
I dusted the site off, stuck a new header up.
The thing is, I’ve always wanted to try my hand at a video course. But making it—the first time I’ve really taught in years—showed me just how much I have to say about writing now. Soooo much.
I have several new resources planned. Craft books. A series of short-how-tos in print. And, yes, plenty of video tips…
You can get those video tips by subscribing to ye ol’ YouTube channel here.
